Constance Shirley Peller (nee Martin) Constance Shirley Peller (nee Martin)

1929-2013
Peacefully, at the Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, Ontario, on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, in her 84th year.
Beloved wife of Dr. Joseph A. Peller. Loving Mother of Joe, Gus (Cathy), John (Diane), Jim (Ruth-Anne), Lori and Jeff (Lisa). Adored by her dear sister, Florence (MacInnis) of Halifax, and predeceased by sisters, Margaret (Goodwin) and Ruby (Johnston). Granny will be missed by her grandchildren Danielle, Justine, Joe, Jennifer, John, Jordan, Grady, Emma-Lee, Jacob, Cody, James and Andrew, and great-grandchildren Audrey, Annabel, Lena and Veda.
Connie was born in Mount Stewart, P.E.I. She treasured her childhood and was proud of her Island heritage. She graduated from the Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing, Montreal, in 1951 where she was Head Nurse of the Psychiatric Ward. Shortly after, she met her husband, Joe, a resident intern on the same ward. They were married in 1952 and moved to Ancaster where they raised their children and enjoyed many wonderful years.
Connie took great pride and played an integral role in helping Joe build Andrew Peller Limited. She, Joe, and the six children enjoyed sailing, skiing and travelling adventures together. In the early nineties, they moved to their farm just outside of Guelph, Ontario. Connie loved the farm! She was a gourmet cook and she enjoyed entertaining close friends and family at every opportunity. She always enjoyed going out to the barn to see the animals and, in her later years, she loved sitting in her country kitchen, watching the birds in her beautiful garden with her dog Sanibel on her lap. Connie was an avid golfer and enjoyed many wonderful years of golfing with Joe in Captiva, Florida.
Her most definitive role was that of loving, caring mother and grandmother. Elegant and charming with a mischievous sense of humor, she was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her loving husband Joe by her side. She was the quintessential wife, mother and grandmother, the essence of love and grace. Connie will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have her in their lives ... but especially by Joe who was her greatest love, best friend and dedicated caregiver.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kapasi and the Groves Memorial Hospital staff in Fergus, and caregivers Gloria Hyndman and Vivienne Pommells.
A private family service will be held. If desired, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society (www.alzheimer.ca in memory of Connie Peller).
