GREER, GWENDOLYN KATHLEEN - It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Gwendolyn Greer on Friday, May 31, 2013 at her home in Charters Settlement, NB. She was 80. Gwen was born in Two Brooks, NB on January 29, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Kathleen (Gough) Greer. Gwen was a homemaker and hairdresser. She loved spending time on the Tobique and her visits to Cape Breton. She loved music and enjoyed the jam sessions at her son Robert’s house. A highlight for Gwen was her 80th birthday party. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved spending time with family. She leaves behind three loving sons, Everett Griffiths (Nancy), Robert Griffiths (Marilyn) and Royden Charles (Chuck) Greer; sister, Doris Knowlton (Robert) and brother, George Robert Greer; four grandsons, Chris, Desi, Jason and Scott; two great-granddaughters, Michaela and Madeline; five great-grandsons, Kaiden, Connor, Ethan, Mason and Maxwell; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Gwen was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Kathleen (Gough) Greer, husband Royden Greer; brothers Carvel Greer and Gary Greer, and daughter-in-law Bonnie Griffiths (Williams).
By Gwen’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. There will be a public graveside service on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the New Maryland United Church Cemetery. For those who wish to make a memorial contribution in Gwen’s memory, the Oromocto SPCA has been suggested by the family. Bishop’s Funeral Home (458-1885) in charge of arrangements.
