It is with great sadness that the Simmonds family announce the passing of our darling mother, Mary Jane Simmonds passed peacefully at her home in Conche, NL on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the age of 87 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons Wilfred, Tom (Rose), and Ron (Loretta); daughters Nellie (Gerald), Alice (Tony), Bridget (Gary), Joan, Angela (Gerard), and Doreen; brother-in-law Gerald Fitzgerald; great friend Ida; cousin Rose and nieces Therese and Hilda; grandchildren Glenn (Jackie), Vanessa (Travis), Janey (Calvin), Reginald, Angela (Lawrence), Amanda, Tommy, Nadine, Nikita, Ryan, Jason (Myrna), Rhonda (Craig), Jamie (Jessica), Brian (Erin), Perry (Nicola), Jodie, Alex (Vaida), Gerard (Tina), and Marylee (Daniel) and the fur babies Cooper and Barkley; great-grandchildren Mikayla, Jack, Grace, Janelle, Liam, Chloe, Kylie, and Cole; a large circle of nephews, nieces, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, son Gerard, and grandson Andrew, parents Ellen and Thomas Hunt, brothers Herbert (Nora), and Patrick (Margaret), sisters Laura (Bernard), Carmel (Ronald) and Doreen, sisters-in-law Margaret (James), Nellie, and Bride (Walter), brothers-in-law Peter, Jack (Kathleen), and Michael (Elizabeth). Visitation took place at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche from where the funeral mass was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 with Fr. Vitus Echedo officiating. Interment followed in the New Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
