Nellie Wilson

WILSON, NELLIE PATRICIA (CURRIE) - Surrounded by her loving family, Nellie Patricia (Currie) Wilson was called home on Saturday, July 27th, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on March 17th, 1926, Nellie was the daughter of the late Laura (Purington) and John Currie. Leaving the farm at age 14 to move to Woodstock and attend High School, her first job was at the Ronald Dykeman Pharmacy and later she worked as a telephone operator connecting the line for every call. Growing up nearby her in Plymouth was her true love, Leonard Wilson; they married on May 2nd, 1945. Nellie and Leonard had four children- Shirley (Gates), Wayne (Cathy), Mac (Jeane) and Betty Lou (John Craig). After several moves, their permanent home became St. James Street where they enjoyed wonderful neighbours. Nellie’s favourite past times included playing bridge- in a ladies Bridge Club that celebrated their 50 years’ Anniversary a few years ago and recently in a Seniors Bridge Group where she and Leonard were the team to beat. Never being afraid to try new things, she learned to golf and downhill ski. Spending time in Florida for 25 winters gained her many friends there and new experiences such as line dancing and French courses.
