Steele, Bertha Maude – age 91 years of Blomidon Court Shannex in Greenwich, passed away peacefully at her home on July 31, 2013. Born in Habitant on April 13, 1922; she was a daughter of the late John and Irene (Benjamin) Barkhouse. Left with fond and loving memories are her children Blair (Laura) Steele of Scotts Bay, Shelia Riley (Larry) of Kingston, Helen Tetlow (Gordon) of Port Williams and Carol Steele of Sackville, NB; sisters Laura Sheffield of the Lookoff and Roxanna Davison of Greenwich; nine grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; also by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband Merville; brothers Joe, William, Harmon and Sandy; sisters Marjorie, Emily, Mary and Cora. In keeping with Bertha’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A reception celebrating her life and sharing of memories took place on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 6-8pm at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville Chapel (568 Main St).
