Marie Hélène Deveaux, 87 of Foyer Père Fiset, Cheticamp died Aug. 14, 2013 at the residence.
Born in Cheticamp, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Josephine (LeBlanc) Romard.
Mom welcomed everyone with open arms. She was equally happy when surrounded by family, picking berries or cooking Acadian food.
She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte (Harold) Greencorn, Guysborough, Vickie (Paul) Thompson, Sydney Mines, Simone (Eddie) MacMillan, Judique; two sons, Hector Deveaux, Calgary, Stephen (Sylvia) Deveaux, North Sydney; three brothers, Severin (Betty) Romard, Ulric (Lillian) Romard and Roger (Susan) Romard, all of Ottawa; five sisters, Germaine Boudreau, Halifax, Sr. Cecilia Dora Romard, Toronto, Thérèse Bilkey, Toronto, Agnes (Vincent) Desveaux, Whitby, Ont. and Dorothy Larade, Cheticamp; three grandchildren, Paulette Thompson, Toronto, Curtis (Shana) Lamorie and Jillian Lamorie, both of Calgary; one great-grandchild, Shanley Deveaux, North Sydney.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Arthur Deveaux and three brothers, Wilfred, Arthur and Aurele.
Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 6-9 p.m. at the Cheticamp Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Cheticamp. Interment in the parish cemetery.
