Andrew 'Andy' Coolen, 46 of Jasper, passed away as a result of an accident, in Jasper, Alta. on Aug. 13, 2013.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Hilda (VanBuskirk) Coolen.
After graduation from the Hospitality Course at NSCC in Sydney, Andy headed "West". He worked in various resorts in the Rockies and settled at Jasper Park Lodge, a place where he worked and called home for more than 20 years. Andy enjoyed traveling, mountain biking and his "wild critters". Andy believed in living life to the fullest and he did just that.
He is survived by his sister, Linda (Greg) Hume, Kentville; brother, John (Pauline) Coolen, Sydney; seven nephews, Jason and Scott Coolen, Chris and Stephen Hume and Geoff, Tyler and Brice Coolen, and seven grand-nieces and nephews.
Andy was predeceased by a brother, Gordon and a sister-in-law, Nancy.
A service was held in Jasper at the lodge where he worked. Funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Sydney Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Interment in Alfred Smith Cemetery.
