PAUL, CORPORAL ELDON JOHN (RETIRED) - The unexpected passing of Eldon John Paul of Kingsclear First Nation occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the age of 59. Eldon joined the RCMP in 1985 and retired with 23 years and 10 months service in 2009. His first posting was in Ottawa, before moving onto Manitoba, where he spent the majority of his career in various detachments, the one most dear to his heart, was while serving in God’s Lake. For one year, he was posted to Alberta in 1988, where he served on the planning committee for the Calgary Olympics and also was part of the group providing security during the special event. He is survived by his devoted companion Crystal (Walker) and their children, Dominick and Christian as well as four older children, Bradley, Douglas, Becky and Colleen as well as a number of grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, Harry James Paul and sisters, Marlene Lovely and Mary Bernadette Paul; two aunts, Mary and Patricia; an uncle David Paul “Hopsing”; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Eldon was predeceased by his mother, Melvina Marie Paul; a brother, Gordon Joseph Paul and nieces, Kimberly Dawn Paul and Chasity Paul.
Resting at 605 Apartment Avenue (Apt. B), Kingsclear First Nation on Sunday September 1, 2013 and Monday September 2, 2013 where visitation will begin at 2:00PM. A mass celebrating Eldon’s life will be held from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Tuesday September 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Monte Peters officiating. Cremation to follow, with a private interment at a later date. A reception will be at the Saint Mary’s Cultural Center, 35 Dedham Street following the funeral service.
