1955 - 2013
After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness the family announces the passing on September 25, 2013, of Roy Gerard O'Meara of Onoway, Alberta, formerly of Bloomfield, P.E.I., age 58 years. Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife Lori; children Ryan (Kim), Meaghan (Damian); granddaughter Addie; sisters Teresa (Alan) Craswell, Arlene MacLeod, Anne Greenan, Lorraine MacPhee, Aletha (Charlie) Monaghan, brothers Jim (Pat) Martin, Ron Martin, Vince Martin, Leonard Martin, as well as numerous extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Roy and Zella (Pineau) O'Meara, brothers Hubert O'Meara (in infancy), Robert Martin, Clair Martin, Billy Martin, sister Judy Martin, and father-in-law Clarence Pineau. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony's Parish, Woodstock, P.E.I., interment at St. Anthony's church cemetery. A celebration of Roy's life will be held at the Parish Hall following the service. The funeral service highlighting Roy's 28 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces was previously held in at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Onoway, AB. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, N.W., Edmonton, AB, T6G 1Z2, or the Canadian Caner Society.
