Mr. Arnold Dauk, aged 63 years, passed away peacefully at the home of his sister in North Vancouver on October 2, 2013.

He is loved and remembered by his mother Helen, siblings; Charlotte (Gerry) Herkel, Philip (Puk), Genny (John) O'Connor, Mary Ann, Mike (Carolyn), Bernie (Mike) Crawford, Matt (Gwen), and Dori. Arnie (as we knew him) was a loving uncle to fifteen nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews.

Arnold was born and raised in Kamloops. He went to St. Ann's Academy from grade 1-12. He graduated from BCIT, after 2 years of electrical engineering, with top marks. After which he took a position with Transport Canada in Kamloops. With a sponsorship from Transport Canada he furthered his education in advanced electronics. Arnold was later transferred to Vancouver where he became a Major Project Supervisor for the Region. He continued his career with Nav Canada in Edmonton, for the last 13 years, where he was involved in many navigational projects throughout western & northern Canada. Earlier this year, Arnold retired from NAV CANADA, the country's air navigation service provider, with over 40 years of service. He worked as a Project Leader in Engineering Services in Edmonton where he was well-respected by his co-workers. Arnold's job involved planning and implementing complex installations of communications, surveillance, navaids and other air traffic control systems, which are directly related to the safety of air navigation. When Arnold talked about his job with family it was with great enthusiasm and passion. He enjoyed his job & co-workers.

Over the years Arn enjoyed & participated in many sports - golf, badminton and bowling as well as outdoor activities including hiking and fishing. He also enjoyed travelling to places such as Russia, the Orient, Dubai, Europe, and Mexico.

Arnold came from a large family which meant a great deal to him. He loved all his brothers and sisters and enjoyed playing jokes on them. This also continued with his nieces and nephews.

In June of this year Arn was diagnosed with cancer. Although his fight was short, he fought with dignity, faith and courage. He succumbed to his illness on October 2, 2013. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A special thanks to Edmonton's Cross Cancer Institute, the O'Connor family for providing a loving home for Arnie and his family in his final days, Dr. Jennifer Walker and the palliative team and to all the caregivers who helped provide comfort and care. All of your efforts are inspirational and appreciated.
