It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, Norma MacNeil on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at the Cape
Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John Jo and Mary Elizabeth MacKenzie.
Norma was a life long member of St. Barra’s Parish, Christmas Island, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, who was an avid Blue Jays' fan.
Norma is survived by her sons, Stevie (Cathy) Dartmouth, Colin, Sydney, Raymond (Iris) Eskasoni, daughters, Carol Anne, Christmas Island, Shelly (Elmorne), Baddeck, Regina, Sydney, Pamela (Robert), Sydney, and Jennifer, Stellarton; one sister, Carmel, St. Catharines, Ont.; two brothers, Fr. Archie and Vern, both of Alberta and Michael (Sadie), Christmas Island.
Norma is also survived by her 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael; daughters, Rosalie and Mary; two sons, Norman and Barry.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013 from 2-9 p.m. at St. Barra’s Church, Christmas Island. Funeral mass will take place 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at St. Barra’s Church, Christmas Island with an interment to follow.
