On November 3, 2013, George Henry Davis III, of Burlington, ON, passed away aged 87 years.
Beloved and loving husband to Agnes (nee Laing); father to Philip (Catrin) of Charlottetown, Jack (Vilma) of Markham, ON, and Gary (Caroline) of Hilo, HI; grandfather to Jonathan (Dartmouth, N.S.), Trevor (Toronto, ON), Andrew (Kitchener, ON), and Konika (Charlottetown, P.E.I.); great-grandfather to Hermione and Nathaniel (Dartmouth, N.S.), all of whom will cherish his memory forever. Survived also by his sister, Loraine, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother, Leonard, and sister, Marion.
George was born in Toronto on February 8, 1926, and was a devoted son to his parents, George and Edith (nee Spurr). He was a Second World War veteran (HMCS St. Joseph) and eventually retired as an executive with the Steel Company of Canada. He was first and foremost a dedicated family man, and he and Agnes marked their 65th anniversary in September 2013. He also donated his time and energy to such endeavours as the 29th Hamilton Cub Pack, Big Brothers and Southgate Presbyterian Church in Hamilton. In his spare time he loved fishing, bridge, country drives, his vacation property in Chesley, ON, and watching British sitcoms. George was especially memorable for his quick intelligence, his sharp wit, and his selfless dedication to his loved ones.
