DYCK- Betty (nee Cornelson) age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 30, 2013, in Herbert, SK. Betty was born on July 29, 1929, at Beaver Flat, SK. She had six brothers and two sisters. She was raised around the Beaver Flats area and then the family moved to the Gouldtown area. Mom later went to work at Beechy where she met Dad. Betty and Abe Dyck were married on September 18, 1950, in Brooks, AB. They lived in Coleman, AB area for four years, then in 1954, the family moved to Herbert, SK. In 1972, they moved to their current farm location with their three children -Pat, Joyce and Marlowe. Mom worked at various locations during her lifetime including - Beechy, Calgary, Vulcan, and Herbert. Mom was an excellent homemaker. She was a huge help on the family farm, picking stones, shovelling wheat and supplying delicious hot meals to the field. Mom specialized in baking buns, butter horns, roll kuchen and New Years Cookies. She supplied baking for many church functions. She spent hours cutting noodles by hand for her children and grandchildren. Moms first love was serving her Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ. Her family was very important to her and she spent many hours in prayer. Mom loved gardening and her love for flowers was evident throughout the yard and park that she created at the family farm. She not only grew large gardens, but also preserved the harvest for the following year. Mom also loved picnics and berry picking, especially saskatoons and buffalo berries. In her free time, she spent hours knitting, crocheting and embroidering. Mom loved camping and traveling. The family camped at White Bear, Cypress Hills, made trips to Saco, MT and Betty especially enjoyed her annual trip to Kenosee Lake. They also traveled to the Black Hills, Yellowstone, Banff, Radium Hot Springs, Arizona, Disneyland and made multiple trips to Hawaii. She loved her grandchildren, Rachelle, Marlowe, Pam, Christine and Jessica. Even in the later years, she always wondered how her grandchildren where doing. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Jacob & Jessie Cornelson; her brothers, David and Norman; a much-loved granddaughter, Rachelle Brown; in-laws, Isaac & Agatha Dueck; brothers-in-law, Ben, Dietrich Dyck, and Stan McGough; sisters-in-law, Sarah & John Harder, Hilda & Barney Dyck and Mary & Pete Hildebrand. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her loving husband of 63 years, Abe Dyck; their children, Pat (Barbara) Dyck, Joyce (Jerry) Brown and Marlowe (Connie) Dyck; their grandchildren, Marlowe (Pam) Brown, Christine and Jessica Dyck; her brothers, Ernie (Olga) Cornelson, Harry (Leona) Cornelson, Jake (Betty) Cornelson and Wes (Tina) Cornelson; her sisters, Dora (Gary) Gould and Lorene (Dave) Seymour; her brothers-in-law, John (Eleanor) Dyck and Dave Dyck; her sisters-in-law, Lena Cornelson, Stella (Ed) Zahariuk and Susie McGough; and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 3:00 pm from the Alpine Church of God, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. The pianist for the service was Sharon Penny with soloist, Dianne Robertson singing, “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be”. Tributes were shared by her children, Pat Dyck, Joyce Brown and Marlowe Dyck, her sisters, Dora Gould and Lorene Seymour, and by a Slide Presentation. “When We All Get to Heaven” and “Amazing Grace” were sung by the congregation. The life history was read by Pastor Alex Allan. Honorary Pallbearers were All of Betty’s Family and Friends. The Interment Service preceded the Funeral Service and was held at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK with her family serving as pallbearers.
