LÉGER, GEORGINA - 1918 - 2013 - It is with great sadness that the family of Georgina Léger (Allain), 95, of Saint-Antoine, announces her passing away on Monday, November 18th, 2013. She was married to the late Léo J Léger (1976). Born in Sainte-Marie de Kent, she was the daughter of the late Octave and the late Marguerite (Dionne) Allain. She was orphaned of both parents at the age of 14, after which she went to Montreal to care for her half-brother’s children. She then worked at the Saint-Jean de Dieu Hospital, and finally as a supervisor for the Bell Telephone Company for several years. She married Léo, the love of her life in 1952, and was a fully devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had great interest in the education of her children and was very proud of her grandsons who she adored. She embraced life and her friends. She loved flower gardens, decorating her home, reading, music and the day to day world events. She was also very involved in her community. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Joanne Léger-Daigle (Guy) of Fredericton and Carole Léger-Bourque (Louis) of Saint-Antoine and her three grandsons, Jean-Sébastien Daigle, Alexandre Daigle and Justin Bourque. She also leaves to mourn her brother-in-law, Livi Léger, several nieces, nephews, and friends that loved her very much. She was predeceased by her husband Léo, her sisters Sara and Marie, her brother Alphonse, her half-sister Germaine, her half-brother Jude and also a sister and a brother in infancy.
The family will receive friends and family at the Saint-Antoine l’Ermite Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Saint-Antoine on Thursday, November 21st, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Saturday from 9 to 10:45 am. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Saint-Antoine Church on Saturday, November 23rd, 2013 at 11:00 am with interment in the parish cemetery. In Georgina’s memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the New Brunswick Lung Association.
