We are sad to share the passing of Gurmit Manak who left us on November 20th, 2013. Gurmit passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, just as she had wanted.

She was born one of six children on March 5th, 1934 in Piplanwala, Punjab India, where she spent the first twenty- one years of her life. She obtained her education at Hoshiarpur Government School. She married her adoring husband Harbhajan on March 25th, 1955. Gurmit and her husband immigrated to Canada with their four children in 1972 with the help of the Sandhu family and have since called Kamloops their home. Gurmit and Harbhajan made many sacrifices in order to provide their children and grandchildren a better quality of life, for which the family is very grateful.

Gurmit is survived by Harbhajan, her devoted husband of 58 years. Her spirit lives on in her children Cindy (Jeet), Anoop (Mahenderpal), Bunka (Raji), Mandy (Michael), Ash (Dahl). Her pride and joy were her twelve grandchildren Sameena, Rubeena (Michael), Rick (Siri), Jason (Jenny), Chris (Taryn), Jasmine, Michelle, Ryan, Tristan, Eric, Quintin, and Rebecca as well as five great-grandchildren.

Gurmit gave tirelessly and selflessly to her husband and family. She taught us many lessons that are testimony to her strength of character.

She will be sadly missed,
but never forgotten.

A Service for Gurmit will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Schoening Funeral Home at 513 Seymour Street.
