Jack Taylor, age 81, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current, SK. Jack is survived by his three sisters, Edith Thibault, Quill Lake, SK, Pearl (Harold) Leskis, Medicine Hat, AB, Doreen Smid, Lethbridge, AB; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond & Mable Taylor; his brothers, Willie and Alex; his sisters, Berna-Jean and Helen; and by brothers-in-law, Aristede and Emil. Jack was born on July 26, 1932 in Englefeld, SK. He took his schooling at Greenside, a rural school, also in Englefeld, SK. He went to work at the age of 15. Some of his places of employment were: at the Thibault farm south of Wimmer, SK - in a grocery store at Kelvington, SK - in 1952, he moved to Swift Current, SK working along side his father, putting the telephone lines through the Saskatchewan Landing - he worked as a bell hop at the Healy Hotel - as a produce manager at Ralph’s Food Market - for 10 years he worked at the Research Station in Poultry Research - for a while he also owned his own restaurant in Gull Lake, SK - and then he worked at the Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current, SK where he trained and worked as a Care Aide, retiring in 1996. Jack worked and volunteered at the SPCA in Swift Current, SK. He had a boundless love for all animals whether wild or tame. One day while out driving, he found a baby fawn beside it’s deceased mother. Jack put the fawn in his car, brought it home and bottle fed it, later putting it into the Zoo at Moose Jaw, SK. At various times he had cats, dogs, horses, goats, rabbits, a monkey and a variety of birds. Jack was always ready and willing to assist others. He will be missed by family and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2:00 pm from the Alpine Church of God, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. The chosen song for the processional and recessional was, “A Hundred Thousand Angels” by Bliss. The pianist for the service was Sharon Penny. Scripture was read from Romans 8:35-39. “Old Rugged Cross”, “Abide With Me” and “Just A Closer Walk with Thee” were sung by the congregation. Tributes were read by Pastor Alex on behalf of the family. The Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Jason Smid, Chad Leskis, Murray Pisiak, Lane Pisiak, Douglas Thibault and Lyle Thibault. In memory of Jack Taylor, donations made to the Swift Current SPCA or to the Cancer Society - Swift Current Branch would be appreciated by the family.
