Ivan Courtney Lusby

Ivan Courtney Lusby, 86 of West Amherst passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
Born in Amherst he was a son of the late Courtney and Greta (Atkinson) Lusby.
Ivan attended the Amherst Schools and worked with his father and brother on their large Dairy Farm known as Crestlane Dairy Farm. Following a disastrous fire in October 1963 which destroyed the farm buildings and forced the sale of the pure-bred Holstein dairy herd, Ivan went into partnership with Max Gray in the business known as Gray and Lusby Farm Equipment until his retirement.
He was generous in sharing his interests and skills as a mechanic which continued into his retirement years. Stamp collecting became an interest in his latter years.
Ivan was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Amherst.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Shipley); daughter, Jane (Vern) Lawrence, Owen Sound, ON; sons, David (Pauline), Amherst, Garth (Sandra), Toronto, ON, and Carson, Amherst; grandsons, Benjamin Lawrence, Sudbury, ON and Colin Lawrence, Owen Sound, ON; step-grandchildren, Kevin Duff, Grand Bay, NB, and Susan Atkinson, Oxford; brother, Harold, West Amherst; as well as two nieces.
Ivan’s remains are resting in Campbell’s Funeral Home; 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visitation on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations in Ivan’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, Amherst or charity of your choice.
