Our precious Daughter, Connie Lynn Derksen, was born on September 10, 1975, at the Kyle Hospital. The family moved to Swift Current and she had many good teachers over the years in School, Sunday School and Kids Club. She attended high school at Caronport High School and later studied business in Calgary, AB. Connie and Dean Colenutt were married on Easter Sunday of 1999. Connie, age 38, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. This is a sad day for us but we can rejoice that Connie accepted the forgiveness of Jesus as her Lord and Savior and has now joined her friend Candace, family members and her twin babies in heaven. We know that her pain is gone; she has a new and perfect body – Thank you Jesus. Connie is survived by her parents, Dennis and Vickie Derksen, Ellie and Gordon Olson; her grandparents - Elizabeth Derksen, Melvin and Margaret Olson; her siblings – Scott, Darrin and Joey Derksen; and a large extended family of uncles, aunts and many friends. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Henry Derksen.
The Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2:00 pm from the Trailview Alliance Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor John Regier officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were Michael Olson, Dana Ludke and Steve Pauls. The Interment Service was held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm from the Capeland Cemetery, Main Centre, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Darrin Derksen, Joey Derksen, Scott Derksen, Earl Braun, Dean Olson and Dean Colenutt. In memory of Connie Derksen, donations made to the Cypress Health Region Palliative Care Program, 51 Saskatchewan Drive, Swift Current, SK, S9H 0X6 would be appreciated by the family.
