It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose on Jan. 27, 2014, at the QE II Hospital in Halifax, N.S.
Born in Sydney, Rose was the daughter of the late Donald 'Red' and Agnes (Beach) Kauffman. She was a member of the French Club of Sydney and for years was an avid dart shooter.
Besides her fiancée, Barry Penticost, she is survived by her daughter, Ella-May Hussey (Lloyd), Sydney; son, Darren Fougere (Bonnie), Dartmouth; three grandchildren, Ashley, Jesse and Sophie; one great-granddaughter, Lily. She is also survived by her brothers, John (Florence), Doug (Joy), Ken and Billy (Jane); her sisters, Jean, Shirley and Angeline (Donnie); her dear friend and father of her children, Joe Fougere, as well as several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by her best friend of 32 years, Betty MacIsaac, and her dear friends, Ron Penticost and Linda Penticost.
Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her beloved sister, Bette Bates, and brothers, Donnie 'D.K.' Kauffman and Paul Webb.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, Friday Jan. 31, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment to take place in Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Kinsmen Crippled Children’s Fund in Rose’s name.
