Russell MacDonald

It is with heavy hearts the family of Russell Lorne MacDonald age 92; announce his passing on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan.
Born in Cherry Valley, PEI, he was the son of the late Mainsworth and Florence (Irving) MacDonald.
In Russell’s earlier years he enjoyed wood working, eventually moving on to a lengthy career as a salesman. Part of those years he worked for Fuller Brush, later as a car salesman and was the manager of a men’s clothing store and of Blandford’s shoe store in Sackville.
Russell was a charter member of the Y’s Men Club. He was also a member of the Trinity - St. Stephen’s United Church and served as secretary on the board of directors.
He will be remembered as an avid sports fan and for his love for golf.
Russell enjoyed many years at the cottage he had built at the shore.
Russell will be sadly missed by his wife Grace (Angus) of 67 years; grandchildren Benjamin (Tara) Dupuis of Halifax, NS, and Megan Dupuis (Graham MacDonald) of Collingwood, ON; son in-law Gary Dupuis of Truro, NS; brother Percy of Amherst; sisters Mildred (Albert) Angus of Linden, NS and Thelma (Robert) Bird of Courtenay, BC, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Deborah Dupuis in 2010; brothers Irving, Edison, David, Lloyd and Alden.
As per Russell’s wishes there will be no visitation.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2 pm at Trinity - St. Stephen’s United Church, with Rev. Victor MacLeod officiating.
Donations in Russell’s memory may be made to the Y’s Men Club or Trinity St. Stephen’s United Church.
Arrangements have been in entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906).
