Warren Beatty Harper
May 10, 1963 – January 29, 2014

It is with profound sadness that the family of Warren Harper announce his passing on Wednesday, January 29 at the age of 50. Warren died at home surrounded by his four daughters and his life partner of 36 years, Monica. Warren was born May 10, 1963 in Prince Albert, SK., the youngest of three sons to Roy and Joan Harper. He is survived by his wife, Monica; his four daughters, Hannah (Trevor Kozinko), Shelby (Cameron Tucker) & their son Beau, Rebecca and Beth; his mother Joan; his brothers Craig (Lauren) and Blaine (Ellen); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Also left behind are his mother-in-law Renata Harvie; sisters-in-law Heather Orosz and Joyce Harvie and his brother-in-law Michael Harvie. Warren is predeceased by his father Roy Thomas Harper in 2001. Warren met Monica in 1977 at the young age of 14 and they officially started dating in January of 1978. They were married in 1985 and together they raised four beautiful daughters. Despite loving his harem, Warren was very pleased at the arrival of his first grandson Beau Warren Tucker, and looked forward to nothing more than to watch that little boy grow. Warren’s professional hockey career was generated by 3 years with the Prince Albert Raiders where he was a member of two Centennial Cup Championships back to back in 1980/81 and 1981/82 seasons, in addition to playing on the first WHL team in Prince Albert history. Drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 1981 “as the lights went out” he always joked, was a highlight in Warren’s life. He enjoyed a successful professional career in the AHL for six years; four of these years with the Rochester Americans where he was on the Calder Cup Championship Team in 1987. His last two years in the AHL spent with the Hershey Bears and the Adirondack Red Wings. In 1989 Warren and Monica ventured to Europe where he played for two seasons with Duisburg DSV. In 1990 Warren left hockey and returned to Saskatchewan where he started a long and successful career with Mutual Life now known as Sun Life Financial. Warren enjoyed a successful career in both his chosen professions which resulted in crossing paths of thousands of people. Warren loved nothing more than being with Monica and his daughters, travelling, boating, skiing, playing in the water, camping, and just hanging out. Whether it was watching movies, laying on a beach, around a campfire, or driving cross country, Warren liked doing all these things the most with his girls and close friends. On his own time Warren loved to tinker with cars, a passion derived from his dad, and renovating and putzing on the various homes he and Monica owned throughout the years. During the past 5 years, Warren’s greatest fun came from riding his Harley. He will be remembered for the immense love he held for his childhood sweetheart and his daughters; for his integrity, his lust for life, his easy going demeanor and his excitement over new adventures. Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the south entrance of the Ches Leach Lounge, 690B – 32nd Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Linda Moriarty officiating.
