Resident of Royal Court, Riverview, N.B., passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital, Saturday, February 8, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Edith was 87 years old; she was born September 30, 1926 in Lower Bedeque, Prince Edward Island. She was the youngest daughter of Emma and Reginald Forbes. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ian, of 67 years and 3 daughters: Debra of Port Hill, P.E.I., Marlene (Terry) of Ottawa, ON, and Karla of Riverview, N.B. Edith was predeceased by her son Blair (1972). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Matthew of Calgary, AB, Jason (Christina) of Nelson, B.C. and Ella of Riverview, N.B.; as well as great-grandchildren, Maci, Finn and Josie.
Edith had retired from The Moncton Hospital. She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church and the UCW where she had served in various roles. She was a former member of the IODE and Lioness. Edith was active in her community. She was an avid bridge player. In retirement, Edith enjoyed golfing, square dancing and round dancing with her husband. They danced with Charlie’s Angels Round Dancers and Hoban’s Heroes Square Dancing group. Dancing was a joy that took Edith and Ian across the country and various parts of the world.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Telfer and the wonderful staff on 4600 for the exceptional care our Mom received.
Edith is resting at Cobb’s Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (506-869-2007). The family will be receiving friends and relatives Sunday, February 16, from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home. The service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, 404 Cleveland Ave., Riverview, N.B., Monday, February 17, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Steve Berube and Rev. Dr. Andy O’Neill officiating. Interment will take place at People’s Cemetery, Summerside, P.E.I., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edith can be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital and the Heart and Stroke Foundation and would be greatly appreciated by her family.
