Whitelaw, George – Valley

Whitelaw, George, Ret. Rhode Island State Police Lieut., Class of 1960, Badge #119. Age 75, Valley, Colchester County, son of George Whitelaw Sr. and Marion I. Wood. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA, he proudly served 21 years on the force and retired to West Branch, Pictou County. Shortly after retirement, he began a 30 year struggle with rheumatoid arthritis. His fight ended February 9, 2014, gently, at home with family.
George had a passion for small farming and model railroading, and was a dedicated sports fan; his greatest love was his family.
Surviving are his wife, of 52 years, Janice (Lee); son, Scott (Quita), Earltown; Robert (Dartmouth); David (Sharon), Readfield, Maine; brother, Robert (Andrea), Webster, Mass.; sister, Jean, Pittsfield, Vt.; grandchildren, Eriel, Kalina, Ashlee, Christopher, Samara, Emily, Korey, Kody, James, and Shawn.
Warmest thanks to the wonderful neighbours of Coldstream Drive. Deepest appreciation to George`s special team of homecare workers and nurses for their incredible care, kindness and support. A very special thank you to Dr. Roya Murray for her extraordinary care and compassion over these many years.
As per George`s wishes, cremation has taken place, with interment to follow at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
