Cora Boddy

BODDY, Cora Elizabeth - died February 13, 2014 in her 100th year at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born May 14, 1914 in Centreville, NS, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Annie (Lockhart) Redden. Cora caught the eye, ear and heart of Gordon Frederick Boddy, a R.A.F. man from London, England to whom she was married for 61 years. Cora was a long time member of the Wilmot Baptist Church and a life time member of the Atlantic Baptist Women. Cora enjoyed gardening, flower gardens, quilting, making pottery, writing community articles for the Middleton Outlook weekly paper, square dancing, entertaining at home, organizing family picnics, plus many other interests. Mom leaves behind her three children, Jean (Russell) Zwicker, North Alton; John (Janine) Boddy, Caledonia; Brian (Nancy) Boddy, Kingston; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, 1 great–great grandson; sister-in-law, Ruby Long, London, England. Cora was predeceased by her husband Gordon Frederick Boddy in 2005; her sisters Ella, Effie, Ivy, Ruby and Joyce and brother Raymond. Visitation was held Monday, February 17, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service was held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 with Rev. Dr. Harry Gardner officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the service. Interment will be held in the North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Wilmot Baptist Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to the charity of your choice.
