Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Frantisek and Julia.
He immigrated to Canada in 1956 and after several years of working in Quebec, a job opportunity brought him to Nova Scotia. He was always a people person and loved to joke and bring out a laugh or smile from others. He loved to dance, enjoyed music and was an avid bowler, golfer and a great sports fan. A machinist by trade he founded two companies - Hydraulics Plus in Upper Sackville, and Cape Breton Hydraulics in Sydney. He loved to drive and covered thousands of miles over many years between the two shops.
A devoted husband and grandfather, he will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Helen; son, Sylva; daughter, Nadia (Danny) Menary, and grandchildren Kyra, Jordan and Devin.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd., Dartmouth. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 6th, at 11 a.m. in St. John Vianney Parish, 4 Beaver Bank Rd., Lower Sackville, NS, B4E 1G3. Reception to follow in the church hall. Private family interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
