Wallace, Robert Melvin “Robbie”, 88 of the Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Thorburn passed away March 2, 2014 in the villa.
Born in Plymouth, Pictou County he was a son of the late Bruce and Mary(Turnbull)Wallace.
He was a resident of Thorburn for most of his life. He worked as a coal miner having worked in the McBean, MacGregor and the Six Foot Mine.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, Riverton; sons, Melvin(Diane), Centreville; Jimmy(Esther), Stellarton; Dale(Diane), Pictou Landing; Brenton, MacPherson’s Mills; Keith, Thorburn; Gilbert(Darlene), Thorburn; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a brother Donald (Una) Thorburn; sisters, Lillian(Hugh)Graham, West Branch; Adeline Latter, New Glasgow; Eleanor Darroch, Stellarton; Gloria Clyburne, Plymouth; Jean(Gerald)O’Connor, Andersons Mountain.
He was predeceased by a brother Frank, sisters Mary Grant and Edie MacIntosh.
Cremation to take place.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9pm Tuesday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a memorial service will be held 11am Wednesday with Rev. Jeff Lackie presiding. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Burial of ashes will take place in the Thorburn Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Robbie may be made to the Valley View Villa.
