DAVIES, DAN GEORGE - 1926 - 2014 - Dan Davies, 88, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Hospital on Tuesday, March 4th, 2014. Born in Toronto, ON, he was the only child of the late Thomas Davies and Mabel Patton-Davies. Survived by his loving wife, Ruth Davies; son, Dan Davies (Susan and grandchildren Madison, Austin, and Daniel); daughters, Kari Forrest (Ken and grandchildren Kaitlyn and Andrew) and Lori Davies (Jim). Dan retired from the RCAF in his 33rd year of service, having served in Canada and Europe from 1943-1976. He joined Manulife Financial as a life underwriter for the next 25 years. He loved to contribute to his community - he was a member of the Lions Club, an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree) and enjoyed the friendship and harmonizing with the Men of Harmony. He will always be remembered for his kindness, optimism, bravery and true spirit. He loved cheering on the Toronto sports teams, tinkering with gadgets, spending time with his wife gardening, and being a great supportive dad and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th,2014 from 12 to 2 pm at Maher's Funeral Home (University Ave. - Miramichi), with a short service and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Extramural Program - Miramichi Unit or Palliative Care - Miramichi Regional Hospital.
