Sadness still comes over us,
Tears in silence often flow,
Memory keeps you ever near us,
Though you died one year ago.

The flowers bloom, the butterflies fly,
The birds chirp from the sky,
The beautiful garden you left behind,
So beautiful and true,
And with it great memories
of our life with you.

What we'd give if we could say,
Hello mom in the same old way,
To hear your voice, see your smile,
To sit with you and chat a while.

So you who have a mother,
Cherish her with care,
For you'll never know the heartache,
Till you see that vacant chair.

They say memories are golden,
Well maybe that is true,
But we never wanted memories,
We only wanted you.
