Abe Froese

Date de décès : 27 mars 2014

Abe Froese, age 83, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current, SK with family by his side. Abe was born on November 26, 1930, in the Cabri area. He grew up with six brothers and attended the Gavrelle School. In 1945, the family moved to Success, where Abe continued his education. At a young age, he worked for various farmers in the area, before starting to farm on his own. He began by renting land in the Success District, which he was later able to purchase. On August 13, 1957, Abe married the love of his life, Alma Wotherspoon. They lived in Success where Alma continued her teaching career. Alma supported Abe in every aspect of farming, and they farmed together until 2010. As Abe¹s health began to decline, he rented out his land, but never lost interest in the latest agriculture developments. In 2010, they purchased a home in Swift Current and were able to enjoy several years there, as well as spending much of the summers on the farm. Abe enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing ball, curling and was also an avid supporter of the Swift Current Broncos, having been a season ticket holder from day one. Abe & Alma enjoyed several trips to the United States including Texas, Arizona and Disneyland. Abe will be remembered for his strong work ethic and quiet manner. He will be missed by all who knew him. Abe is survived by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Alma; his brothers, Henry, Jake (Mary), Peter (Sheila); sister-in-law, Elizabeth; in-laws, Betty (Fred), Doug (Val); special cousin, Ruby; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Cornelius & Anna Froese; his brothers, Cornie, George, David; and by sisters-in-law, Viola, Lois and Ann.
The Graveside Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm from the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating.
