Shirley Brown

BROWN, SHIRLEY LAURENA - It is with very sad and heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Brown (Smith) of Salmon River NB announce the passing their loving wife, mother, nanny, sister and friend on April 10 2014. Born on January 22, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Hazen and Muriel Smith. Shirley was married for 54 years to her partner in love, life and dance, Vincent Brown. Her pride and joys were her children; Tim (Shelley), Angela (Jim Lawless), Greg (Gail), Jocelyn (Kristian Moore) and Trevor (Rachel). Together they created many memories of adventures, misadventures, work, play and love of family. She greatly enjoyed watching her beautiful 15 grandchildren grow up; Cadhan, Connor, Corbin, Emily, Heidi, Jamie, James, Janica, Keegan, Logan, Matthew, Samuel, Steven, Tanner and Tyler. She extended her love to close family friends Kirk and Chris Beers and Dawn Brown. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings Charlie (Jayne) Smith, Hazel Fidler, Diane (Mike) Blacquier, Margaret McPhee and Janet Crawford. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her brother in laws Vance Fidler and Robert McPhee. Shirley, a natural teacher, attended teacher’s college winning the Governor General’s award for excellence and embarked on a promising teaching career. In a short time she had mentored and touched the lives of many of her students. She left teaching after a short time to raise her family and join her husband in managing their business and other ventures. While managing this busy schedule, she also loved to share her talents and love of music as organist and choir director for both the First Chipman United Baptist and the Chipman United Churches. Some of her notable accomplishments include several Christmas Cantatas, Community Living Christmas Trees, Directing the Irish men’s choir as well as other choral groups. In later years she was able to devote some time to hone her painting skills and produced many fine works of art featuring nature scenes. Shirley will be forever remembered for Faith in God, her commitment to her family and community. Her love of music will live on in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know her.
Visitations will be held on Sunday April 13th from 7 to 9pm and Monday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the Chipman Funeral Home (339-6612).
