New Glasgow/Trenton - Raymond Malcolm Mole, 97, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2014 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born October 8, 1916 in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Barbara and Alfred Mole of New Glasgow. He was predeceased by a brother, Cecil. He is survived by sister, Florence Lynds, Truro, NS; nephew, Douglas (Ardyth) Lynds, Valley, NS, and a niece, Carolyn (Owen) Weir, Bible Hill, NS. Raymond was a well known artist in the Pictou County area. He was active in many handicrafts such as painting, leather craft and copper work. He taught painting for many years and presented his works at many art shows and exhibits throughout Pictou County and the Maritimes. Raymond always said his one claim to fame was a leather wallet he was commissioned to make for Prince Philip on his and Queen Elizabeth’s visit to the Maritimes in the mid to late 1950’s. Raymond was employed as a machinist at the Trenton Steel Works from the age of 17 until his retirement at age 65. The family would like to thank the staff of Victoria Way at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Young St., Truro, for Raymond’s excellent care and support. Visitation 1 – 2 pm Sunday, April 27 in First United Church, High St., Trenton, followed by a service at 2 pm with Rev. Wade Reppert officiating. Interment in Hillside Cemetery followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of choice.
