Our hearts are broken today with the passing of our special sister, Lorraine Patricia MacNeil who passed away on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Louise (Guiffre) MacNeil.
She grew up in Westmount and for the last 23 years lived as a resident of Resi-Care, Cape Breton.
She was an avid knitter and bingo player, a proud special Olympian, she loved to participate and was a valued seller at the Cruise Ship Pavilion during the summer months, but more importantly she loved to spend time with her family and friends.
She worked at the cafeteria at CBU for the past 23 years.
Lorraine is survived by sisters Margaret MacNeil, Bonita MacNeil and Joanne (Ed) MacInnis; nephews Stephen MacInnis, Martin MacInnis; neice Krista MacInnis; step-mother Anne MacNeil and step siblings Linda, Janet, Peggy, Gary and Eldon and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held on 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26th, 2014 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Sydney, with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, CBR Hospital.
