It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Jessie Morrison on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, An Calla Unit.
Born in Inverness, she was the daughter of the late John Angus and Catherine MacLellan. Jessie touched the lives of all who knew her with her happy disposition and ready wit. A beautiful woman who enjoyed all who visited her including her wonderful caregivers.
She was a member of the former Saint Agnes Parish and belonged to several originations, St. Agnes C.W.L, Saint Agnes Choir, Gaelic Society and New Waterford Historical Society.
Jessie is survived by her four sons, Hugh (Alison), Edmonton, Brian (Debbie), New Waterford, Frank (Debbie), Edmonton, Blaise (Cheryl) Bedford; and her only daughter Elizabeth Ann (Michael) Gouthro, New Waterford to whom she resided with for the past fourteen years. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Copan, New Waterford and Christine Kennedy, USA; twelve grandchildren, Alan, David (Butch), Natalie, Leslie, Gregory, Bobby, Nicole, Stephen, Taylor Morrison and Michael, Sheldon and Blair Gouthro; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that she truly adored.
She was predeceased by her husband Allan of 45 years whom she truly loved and missed since his passing, sister Christy Lloyd and three brothers, Alex, Hughie and Joe.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27 from 3 – 9 p.m. and a funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Parish Hall, Convent St., New Waterford. All are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
Donations in Jessie’s memory can be made to the An Cala, Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
