Harry Sachuk
December 24, 1925 – April 22, 2014

It is with great sadness that the family of Harry Sachuk announce his passing in the early morning hours of April 22, 2014 at Pineview Terrace Lodge where he had resided for the past year. Harry was born in Rowno, Poland on December 24, 1925 and immigrated with his parents and siblings to the Paddockwood area in June of 1929. His working career consisted of various jobs including a nickel mine in Sudbury, logging near Prince George and hauling gravel in the Prince Albert area. However, his main occupation was farming in the Christopher Lake area. Even after retiring from farming, he continued to live on the farm for several years and loved gardening. Harry was predeceased by his wife Elsie; parents Nikita and Katherine Sachuk; brothers Nick Sachuk and Mike Sachuk; sisters Nettie Heleta, Anne Poltorak and Jane Walther; as well as nieces Marion Heleta, Irene Moody and Dianne Poltorak. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. Our dear Uncle Harry was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed by each of us. He was blessed with an unparalleled sense of humor and wit with which he touched many lives. We all have so many wonderful memories of his “one liners” at family gatherings. And if we were unsure of his true meaning, we only had to see the twinkle in his amazing blue eyes. His passing has left a gap in each of our lives. The family wish to thank the staff at Pineview for the very personal and caring manner in which they cared for Harry. It was evident that our uncle considered Pineview his home. We especially want to thank the three staff members who were with him at the end and showed such compassion and grace to him. We also wish to thank the various staff members at the Victoria Hospital who provided care to him the numerous times he was hospitalized. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director (306-922-4729).
