Vida Mae Patey

Vida Mae Patey was born in Little Brehat on Feb. 28, 1928 to William and Beatrice Budgell. In 1948, she married Reuben Patey, the love of her life. They moved to St. Anthony in 1956 where they raised their three children while owning and operating their own business. She was an active member of the United Church Women and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Her passions were her family, berry picking, and Little Brehat. She passed peacefully away on April 29, 2014. She is survived by her children Keith (Dora), Gloria (Reg) and Laurie (Rosarii); her grandchildren Darryl (Kim, Erin and Kurtis), Shane (Nicole, Haley and Tayler), Jennifer (Dean, Joanna and Liam), Christopher (Holly and Liam), and Crystal. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Vera, Florence and Phyllis, a large extended family of nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends. She was predeceased by parents William and Beatrice Budgell, husband Reuben in 2006, infant grandson Reginald, five brothers and two sisters. Visitation took place at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony followed by the funeral service at St. Anthony United Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating, Burial followed at Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.
