David Wiebe, age 83 years, 10 months and 25 days, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. David was born on May 27, 1930, at Springfeld, SK to Johan M. & Maria Wiebe. He obtained his education at Wymark School for Grades 1 - 3 and at Flora School for Grades 4 - 9. Church was always an important part of his life. He was baptized on May 21, 1951 at the Rosenhof Sommerfeld Church, was a song leader from 1960 - 1969, elected to be a minister on March 29, 1969, and ordained as minister on July 19 1969. He was elected for the position of Aeltester December 4, 1971 and was ordained on December 19 1971. He served in this position till his passing. David and Margaret Penner were married on March 29, 1953, at the Rosenhof Sommerfeld Church. Together they farmed at Rosenhof, SK. Some of David’s hobbies and interests were reading his Bible, doing yard work, visiting people as he was a “people person” and taking care of the Rosenhof Sommerfeld Cemetery. David is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children,Wesley & Judy Wiebe, Rosenhof, SK, Clifford & Barbara Wiebe, DeWinton, AB, Arnold & Norma Wiebe, Rosenhof, SK, Lydia & Pete Heinrichs, Rosenhof, SK, Harold & Sylvia Wiebe, Rosenhof, SK and Margarete & Wade Rempel, Swift Current, SK; his grandchildren, Jason Ludke, Moose Jaw, SK, Michael & Becky Wiebe, Torquay, SK, Heidi & Jonathan White, Swift Current, SK, Sonya Wiebe, Fort St. John, BC, Nicholas Wiebe, DeWinton, AB, Christopher Heinrichs, Rosenhof, SK, Jarrod Heinrichs (Fiancé - Sarah), Rosenhof, SK, Kali Rempel, Swift Current, SK, Tori Rempel, Swift Current, SK; his great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Rylan and Carson Ludke, Emma and Lincoln Wiebe, Laine White and Kamara Wiebe-Harris; his brothers, Abe Wiebe and Harry (Susan) Wiebe; and sister Tina Krahn; his sisters-in-law, Tina Wiebe, Sarah Wiebe, Mary Wiebe, Tina Krahn, Mary Davidson, Elsie Penner, Sarah Penner, Eva Loewen; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Johan & Maria Wiebe; a daughter in infancy, Marjorie Eileen; his family, John & Kathleen (2nd wife Agatha) Wiebe, Ben Wiebe, Jake Wiebe, Nick & Agnes Wiebe, Peter Wiebe, Mary & George Rempel, George & Gladys Wiebe, Margaretha Wiebe, Agnes Wiebe, Margaret Wiebe and Ben Krahn; his parents-in-law, Jacob & Maria Penner; his in-laws, Jake Penner, Roy Henning, Jim Davidson, John & Florence Penner, Ben Penner, Cornelius Penner, Henry & Anne Martens, Kay & Philip Moen, Betty & Jake Geunther, Jake Loewen, Agnes Wiebe, Helen & George Janzen and Abe Penner.
The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 1:30 pm from the Schoenfeld Sommerfeld Church, Schoenfeld, SK with Bishop Nick Boehlig officiating for the German Service and Rev. Abraham D. Funk officiating for the English Service. The Interment Service was held at the Rosenhof Sommerfeld Cemetery, Rosenhof, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Rev. Abe Funk, Rev. Ben Penner, Rev. Henry Peters, Rev. Peter Ginter, Rev. John Hamm, Rev. Philip Froese, Rev. Henry Wieler and Rev. John Neufeld. In memory of Bishop David Wiebe, donations made to the Rosenhof Sommerfeld Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
