Passed peacefully away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 in the presence of her loving family in the comfort of her own home, Gertrude Curtis (nee O'Neill) of Trepassey, age 92 years. Predeceased by her husband Michael (1970); her son Kevin (2013); her brother Robert O'Neill (2005); sisters Magdalen (2008) and Mary (2013); daughter-in-law Carrie (1993); brother-in-law Albert (1973). Leaving to mourn 6 daughters and 4 sons: Muriel Finlay (Bill), Carol Day (Warren), Mona Saunders (Frank) Viola Pennell (Louis), Janet Curtis (Mark), Jean, Eugene (Marilyn), Gordon (Suz), Claude (Carol Ann) and Vince; sister Catherine Pennell of Trepassey: 4 brothers: Kevin and William (Alice) of Trepassey, John of Foxtrap, Thomas (Sonny) of St. John's; Daughter-in-law Kay (Dean, Darren, Becky and families) 25 grandchildren: Dr. Bryan Curtis (Dr. Sarah), Barry Curtis (Carrie), Andrea Holloway (Chris), Franzl Zahn (Charlene) and Michael Curtis (Brittany), Dustin Curtis and Kelly French (Gerald), David Curtis and their mom Madeline, and Candace Curtis, Corey Curtis, C.J. Curtis, and Christopher Saunders (Alice), Renee Saunders and Curtis Finlay (Heather), Lisa Skiffington (Doug), and Leon Myrick, Shawn Myrick and their dad Noel, and Dwayne Waddleton, Mandy Curtis, Daryl Curtis, Jenna Curtis, Suzanne Curtis, Devon Curtis, A.J. Curtis and their mom Mary, and Riley Pennell, 14 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Ryan, Stephanie, Samantha, Zachery, Peyton, Leah, Corey, Nate, Kennedee, Taylor, Alexandra, Kaitlyn, and Noah. 1 great-great grandchild Lucas. Special friends Dan and Neil, and close friend Fr. Peter Golden; her caregivers, Edna, Sandra and Jeannie; also a large circle of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2:00 - 4:00 pm, 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Saturday at Fayhey's Funeral Home, Trepassey. Mass of Christian burial, 11:30 am Sunday, May 11, at Holy Redeemer Church, Trepassey.
