YOUNG, Robie George –Aged 88 of Carleton Corner, formerly of Port Lorne, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loved ones on Monday, May 5, 2014 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts he was a son of the late Robie Starr and Hattie Mae (Banks) Young. Robie was a truck driver for Park Sabean, School Bus Driver for over 30 years with the Annapolis County District School Board, a Charter member of the Port Lorne Fire Department for over 30 years, a member of the Port Lorne Baptist Church and Secretary-Treasurer for the Fundy View Cemetery. Robie is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Olive Hines, Carleton Corner; daughters, Evelyn (Russell) Hannam, Carleton Corner and Debbie (David) Sabine, Wilmot; son, Harold (Cindy)Young, Halifax; brother, Russell (Marie) Young, Lawrencetown, Halifax County; grandchildren, Megan, Melanie, Maryelle, Jennifer, Michelle, Angela, Nicholas and Lucas; great grandchildren, Hannah, Brandon and Sam, Abigail and Paige, Arianna and Lauren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son in infancy. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448. The funeral service was held Thursday, May 8, 2014 in the Port Lorne Baptist Church with Pastor Heather Pearle-Gillis officiating, assisted by Rev. Brian Wallace. Interment in Fundy View Cemetery, Port Lorne. A reception for family and friends followed the service in the Port Lorne Fire Hall.
