WILLIAMS, Rhoda. It is with great sadness that the family of Rhoda Williams, age 92, of Lockeport, announces her passing on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Roseway Manor, Shelburne. Born in Lockeport on December 10, 1921, she was the youngest daughter of the late George MacFarlane Thompson and Amanda Hardy (Latham) Thompson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Rhoda always enjoyed having her family around her. She was a care giver at Surf Lodge in Lockeport for 14 years. In her earlier years she enjoyed bingo and other functions at the local Fire Hall and was an avid country and western music fan because of her friendship with Hank Snow. Rhoda was predeceased by her husband, Elroy Leslie Williams; brothers, Warren and Weldon Thompson; half-brother, Victor Bangay; half-sisters, Bernice, Nina and Leota Bangay; grandson, Freeman James Poole. Rhoda will be sadly missed by daughters, Eileen Stephens; Mayola ( David) Buchanan, both of Lockeport; Fern (Wally) Fraser, Kelowna, B.C; sons, Raymond (Astrid), Nanaimo, B.C; Harvey (Bonnie), Jordan Falls; Earl (Sue), Duncan, B.C; Denny (Charlene), Lockeport, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Rhoda was blessed to have been able to live in her own home up to several months prior to her passing. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home. There will be no visitation and a family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lockeport First Responders.
