CARLSON: Rita Marie age 84 of Swift Current, SK passed away on May 16, 2014 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The prayer service was held on May 21, 2014 at 7:00 pm from St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church. The funeral Mass was held on May 22, 2014 at 11:00 am from St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Gull Lake, SK with Father Prince Kurisinkal officiating. The readers were Joan Girodat and Marilyn Girodat, the eulogy was read by Joan Girodat and the ushers were Gregory Ruetz and Allan Gedney. The pallbearers were Robert and Aaron Haygarth, Wayne Girodat, Rick Millman, Larry Eagles, Jason Carlson, Wade Ganje, Jonathon Carlson, and Brad Girodat. Rita is survived by her daughters, Debra-Lynn, Marie, Mona and Lois; sons, Albert John, Randall Jay, and Daniel Aaron; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; sister Isabelle Ruetz; brother Gordon (Marilyn) Girodat; sisters-in-law, Joan Girodat, Marie Carlson, Hazel Hagen, Lillian (Ed) Troutman, Grace (Jerald) Overlid, Grace Paulson, Margaret Carlson; brother-in-law Elwood Larson; special nieces, Peggy (Rick) and Tracey; as well as numerous nieces of nephews. She is predeceased by by her parents; first husband George Kerr; second husband John Carlson; an infant son; brother Ken Girodat; brothers-in-law Cletus Ruetz, and Bob Gedney; son-in-law Leslie Ganje; brothers-in-law, Gordon, Raymond, Leslie, Murray, Stanley and Lelland Carlson, Carsten Morken, Harlod Paulson, Roy Ringdall, Roy Hagen, and Arnold Carlson; sister Kay Gedney; sisters-in-law, Myrna Morken, Viola Ringdall and Lois Larson. Rita was born in Gull Lake, SK and attended school in Twin Butte south of Gull Lake near the family homestead. She worked at the Hudson Bay Company as a secretary for three years, and Bueliey's Drug Store as a clerk in Trail, BC. She sold Fuller Brush, Avon, Amway in Macoun, SK from 1969 to 1988. She also cooked at the Catholic Rectory in Moose Jaw, SK in the 1990's. She was a member of the C.W.L., Royal Purple as an Honored Lady for Lodge #93, and was a Legion Ladies Auxiliary member. Rita was an artist that specialized in oil painting, and her main subjects was scenery. She was the president of the Tenant association at the Heritage Towers.
