MACCUISH,(MacLeod) Isabel C. -94, of Windsor, passed away May 14, 2014 in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, NS. Born in 1919 in Grand River, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Katherine (Findlayson) and Alexander Urquhart. Isabel was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Isabel was a teacher in various schools in Cape Breton and Dartmouth; her first teaching positions were in one room schools with grade primary to eleven. She was a charter member of Iona Presbyterian Church, Dartmouth and a member of the Eastern Star in Cape Breton and Dartmouth for over 50 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Noah (Dan), Hectanooga, NS; son, Don MacLeod (Colleen), of Ashdale, NS; grandchildren, Dana Noah, Vancouver, BC, Art Noah (Andrea), Meteghan, NS, Robert Noah, Hectanooga, NS, Carla MacLeod, Dartmouth and Roddy MacLeod, Germany; great grandchildren, Dr. Erica Lasher, Lauren Noah, Katie MacLeod, Donald MacLeod and Carmen Noah.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Rod MacLeod, of Framboise, Cape Breton; her second husband, Murdo MacCuish, of Scotland; sister, Anna MacKenzie; brothers, Lawson and Sandy Urquhart.
There will be an Order of the Eastern Star service at 6:45pm on Friday June 6, 2014 followed by visitation from 7-9pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Funeral service will be 2pm Saturday June 7, 2014 in Iona Presbyterian Church, Lucien Dr., Dartmouth. Burial will take place at a later date in Framboise, Cape Breton. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Isabel are welcomed for Iona Presbyterian Church, Framboise Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice.
