It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother Mildred Marie Fraser, 91, on June 5, 2014 at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the daughter of the late Donald Anthony and Margaret MacNeil.
Mom was a 50 year member of the Holy Family Parish CWL. She greatly enjoyed her Tuesday night Happy Club Pals. Mom took great pleasure in making cookies for Matthew MacDonald's lemonade stand for the IWK. As a result she was awarded the CTV news "Maritimer of the Week". She was an avid bowler in the Sydney Mines mixed bowling league.
She is survived by her sister Patricia Desrosiers, Niagara Falls; sons Russell 'Butch' (Ethel), Jim (Debbie) and Donald; daughters Margaret (Colin) Devoe and Eileen (Gerald) Matthews as well as 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Edward Fraser; brothers Douglas, Michael, Edward 'Buddy' and Russell; as well as sisters Katie (Colin) MacDonald, Eileen (Barry) Lobb and Sadie (Sylvine) MacDougall.
Visitation for Mildred will take place, Sunday June 8 from 2-4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Parish (formally St. Pius X Church), Sydney Mines with Fr. JJ MacDonald officiating. Immediately following, Internment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
