It is with sadness that we must announce the passing of Ramsey Cotton, age 99, of West Leicester, formerly of Worcester, Mass. Ramsey passed away peacefully at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Friday, June 13, 2014.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he was a son of the late Robert and Mary (Ramsey) Cotton.
Ramsey was a US Army Veteran of World War II. During the war, he married his loving wife Lola Willena Bird in 1942. Ramsey worked and raised his family in Worcester, Massachusetts attending Pleasant Street Baptist Church. Ramsey and Lola retired happily to the warm and welcoming community of West Leicester, her birthplace.
He will be sadly missed by his children Janice (Wayne) Erickson, Franklin, TN, Wesley, Freedom, ME, Robert (Lana), Oceanside, CA, Susan (Larry) Bull, Atlanta, GA; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Lola Bird.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777). Ramsey was buried beside his wife in the Leicester Cemetery. A memorial service will take place at a future date.
