Isabell Beaton of Springhill, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill. Born in Dominion, NS, she was a daughter of the late Alexander J. and Mae (Beaton) Burden.
Isabell attended school in Dominion and moved with her family to Springhill in 1941. She was a member of St. Andrews-Wesley United Church and was presented with a certificate for 50 years of service to the United Church Women (UCW). Isabell was also a respected member of the Lady Minto Rebekah Lodge # 23 and All Saints Hospital Auxiliary. Isabell and Monson moved to Waltham, Mass. around 1961. They were employed at Brandeis University for over 20 years, but came back to Springhill each and every summer. They retired and moved back to Springhill in 1981. Isabell is survived by sisters, Catherine MacNeil, Amherst, Anna Smith, Springhill; brother, Kenneth Burden of Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Monson Beaton; sisters, Louise and Georgie; brothers, Donald, James, Allister and Harold.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) from where visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday, June 19, 2014. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 20, 2014 from the funeral home with The Reverend Wayne McCarther officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
