Gary Michael Hendsbee, 65, of Halifax, formerly of Canso, passed away at Harbour Stone Enhanced Care, Purcell’s Cove, on Friday, June 20, 2014 with his family by his side.
Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Gerald and Mary (Hurst) Hendsbee.
Gary was a gifted student at Canso High School and received a scholarship for the College of Arts and Design, in Halifax. He was a talented artist. He later worked as a stevedore at the Halifax waterfront and after a car accident in 2003, became a resident of Harbour Stone.
He will be dearly missed by his sister Margie Boutilier (Bill), Thorburn; brothers, Harold Hendsbee (Alice), Queensport; Gilbert Hendsbee (Susan), Dartmouth; and many nieces and nephews.
Gary was predeceased by brothers Evan and Wade Hendsbee; and step-father Warren Boston.
Cremation has taken place. His memorial service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Pastor Jerry Stearns officiating. Burial will be in the Hendsbee family lot in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
