John Angus 'Jack' Stewart– 75, Whycocomagh, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck.
Jack was born in Roseburn, Inverness Co., on June 12, 1939 and was a son of the late John Dan and Georgina (MacLean) Stewart. He worked with the Sydney Steel Corp. and in the mines in Elliot Lake and Sudbury, Ont and the Prince and Donkin Mines, Cape Breton. He also sold cars for Hawkesbury Pontiac and Ron May Pontiac which was a job he loved and thrived at. For leisure, Jack loved ice fishing and fishing in River Denys. He was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh.
Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years, Audrey (Clark); his loving aunt, Ena MacLean, Alderwood Nursing Home; cousins, Tootsie (Nathan) Smith, Whycocomagh; Malcolm (Marlene) MacLean, Sydney; Caroline (Scott), Glencoe; Murdock (Violet) Burton, Alexis (Hugh) MacDonald, Teresa (Brother), Liz MacKillop, Betty (Clyde) Tanner, Leona (Mitch), Dartmouth.
He was predeceased by his son, Glen; as well as many aunts and uncles.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. Saturday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday from Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Chris Matheson officiating. Burial will follow in Stewartdale Cemetery.
