Daisy Eileen Hornung of Truro, formerly of Sydney, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, where she had lovingly been cared for by the staff of Purdy Lane.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Annie Agnes Jensen and the adopted daughter of the late Joe and Anne Latham.
She worked for Sears Canada for many years and retired due to poor health in 1988. Always a community volunteer, she worked tirelessly to help where needed. Due to poor health, Mom came to Cedarstone in January, 2011.
She was active in Resident Council and loved being a member of the choir. Her voice could always be heard singing proudly.
Mom is survived by her daughter, Lois (Murray) MacCormick, Bible Hill; daughter-in-law, Debbie MacDonald, Truro; grandchildren, Rob (Jen) MacCormick, Fall River; Chantal (Jeff) Bishop, Greenfield; Ryan MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Liam MacCormick, Emma MacCormick, Spencer Bishop, Mason Bishop, Myia MacDonald; sister-in-law, Ruth Ganaway, Sydney.
Along with her mother and adopted parents, she was predeceased by her son, Doug MacDonald, brother, Joe Ganaway, great-grandson, Robert Alexander MacCormick.
The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Chris Cook; she so enjoyed her banter with you. To her family of caregivers on Purdy Lane, here is one last hug from Mom. Thank you.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014, The Reverend Gary Yetman officiating. Interment in Gabarus Lake Cemetery at a later date.
