At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, of Sanford Edward Phillips of Mount Royal, aged 90 years, a veteran of the Second World War, beloved husband of Thelma (nee Dalton). Born on Oct. 6, 1918, son of the late Sargent and Maude (MacArthur) Phillips. Loving father of Marlene Dumville, Mount Royal and Willard (Gertrude), Calgary Alta. Cherished grandfather of Virginia (Beecher) Woodside, Poplar Grove, Darren (Lisa) Dumville, Kildare, Deryk (Tami) Phillips, Rocky Mountain House Alta., Merle (Linda) Rayner, Calgary, Phyllis Rayner, Calgary, Daryl (Belinda) Rayner, B.C., twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Brother of Senator Dr. Orville Phillips, Ottawa Ont., Ray (Gertrude), Sussex N.B. Brother-in-law of Pansy Phillips, O’Leary, Anne Phillips, Mount Royal, Marion Darrah, O’Leary, Doris Phillips, O’Leary, Olive (Everett) Coughlin, Summerside, and Marne Lewis, Cascumpec. Predeceased by his brothers, Vernon, Wyman, Ernest, Brenton, Erland, and sisters Lillian, Ivy and Flora, as well as grandson, Winston Dumville, and nephews, Gerald and Kent Phillips. Resting at the Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary, with visiting hours Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral on Saturday in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in the Mount Royal Peoples Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, O’Leary will hold a service of remembrance for their late comrade at the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:45 p.m. Memorials to the Margaret Stewart Ellis Home or The Mount Royal Peoples Cemetery would be appreciated
