Connie Lee Warkentin
(August 22, 1959 – August 12, 2014)

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Lee "The Imp" Warkentin. She lived an energetic and life-fulfilling 54 (almost 55) years, always seeking ways to share her enthusiasm with the world. Her three and a half year battle with breast cancer ended August 12th, 2014 just after midnight. Rest was found in her home where she was surrounded and supported by her loving family. Connie will live on in their hearts and minds where her strength, courage and humour are forever etched. Connie was born in Saskatoon, SK but lived out her childhood in nearby Langham. Moving to Regina, she graduated from Martin Collegiate but found herself back in Saskatoon to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan. It was during this time at school that she met her future husband on a canoe trip. She married Randy Friesen on December 28, 1985. Connie and Randy moved a few times before settling in Prince Albert, SK. where they raised their four children and many pets. Over the course of her lifetime Connie achieved so much, and took pleasure in so many activities, never afraid to attempt something new. Some of her passions over the years included obtaining a black belt in, and later running a Taekwondo Dojo, creating any type of visual art, and whenever time allowed (even while driving) crocheting up a storm. Connie attacked life with a furious passion, and no one could stand in the way of her goals, even if those goals were to benefit another. She was an eternal giver of her time and energy and as such made countless friends over the years. At the core of Connie's life was her unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ, and she took joy in expressing this faith through leading worship at her church, and being involved in many areas of ministry and outreach. She also enjoyed the fellowship of weekly Bible study groups and prayer times. She expressed a profound sense of being nourished and uplifted through her long illness by the prayers and expressions of love and support of others. Connie is survived by her husband Randy Friesen; sons Luke Friesen and Brendan Friesen (Marina Bendle); daughters Katy Friesen and Maxine Friesen; mother Cleora Warkentin; brother Glenn Warkentin (Janet); sisters Cynthia Baker (Ron), Joyce Warkentin and Lynette Farquhar (Brad); her nieces and nephews, and numerous other friends and family. Her father, Rueben Warkentin joyously receives her in Heaven. We invite you to join us to celebrate Connie’s life on August 16, 2014 at 11:00 am. The party will be held at the Prince Albert Alliance Church, 2777 – 6th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK, with a lunch following. There will be a graveside service later that afternoon, at approximately 4:00 pm at the Langham Evangelical Bible Church Cemetery. Many thanks go out to Connie's friends, for the countless meals provided and support given to our mom and wife over the past few years. Thank you also to Dr. Dale Ardell and the staff at Victoria Hospital, the Royal University Hospital, and, not least, Dr. Shahid Ahmed and the staff at the Sask. Cancer Clinic for your wonderful care, flexibility and professionalism. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to Gideons Canada (www.gideons.ca), or the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca). Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director (306-922-4729).
