It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, aunt and friend, Lillian Joyce Carroll, on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 at the QEII Health Science Center, Halifax Infirmary site.
Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Alma (Brown) Allen. Joyce was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney. Joyce was employed with her family business, Allen Ice Company, North Sydney for 45 years and for many years worked at the box office at the North Sydney forum.
She is survived by her son, Brent (Scelonia) Carroll, Halifax; stepchildren, David Carroll, Elaine Carroll, Russell Carroll, Basil Carroll, Mary Parago and Frank Carroll; cousins, Lillian Rudnikoff, Doug (Donna) Howley, Ellen Brown and Sally Campbell; sister-in-law Georgia Allen, North Sydney along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gervase Carroll; brothers, Lorne and Douglas Allen; a sister, Clara Allen; stepchildren, John Carroll, Ray Carroll, Leo Carroll and a sister-in-law, Mary Allen.
No visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney, with Rev. John Hannem officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
